Pen spinning is a form of object manipulation that will require the deft manipulation of a writing instrument with one's arms. Although it is often considered a form of self-entertainment (usually in the school/office setting), multinational competitions and meetings are occasionally held. [1] It is some sort of contact juggling. It is usually classified as a sport activity. Pen spinning is known as "pen mawashi" (compare for instance mawashi-geri, "round-kick") and, more disparagingly, "rÅnin mawashi" "college scholar spinning" in Japan in which the pastime has been popular since at the least the 1970s, and in which the Pen Spinning Association Japan currently is dedicated to promoting the aspiring art form. While its origins stay unclear, pen-spinning is easily gaining international popularity as a result of on-line video sharing and forums. According to Masaki Tsukada, chairman in the Japanese pen spinners, pen spinning now offers dedicated movements in South Korea and the country.
