Best Italian Restaurant in Toronto

In 1997, Chef Gabriele Paganelli started Romagna Mia with the thought of introducing Toronto to the cuisine of Emila Romagna. Gabriele's inspiration originated in his enjoyment of "mamma's" cooking. Growing up and dealing beside his mother in the small family business of gastronomy at the day of fifteen, the love of Northern Italian cuisine flourished anf the husband eventually opened their own gastronomy.

Gabriele trained in Bologna and devoted himself to the art of cooking. In 1991, he came to Canada to fulfill his dream. Red carpet years of establishing himself in the restaurants Toronto community of Toronto, Ontario, he hit the jackpot - Romagna Mia was opened!

Offering a geniune slice of Italy, Gabriele shares the authentic flavours of his homeland: Parmigiano-Reggiano, prosciutto di Parma, truffle, traditional balsamic vinegar, risotto, fresh pasta, and piadina (a set bread, usual for the Romagna region).

Romagna-Mia is the Italian resto and best restaurants in Toronto. Over the years there have been many awards and accolades bestowed upon Gabriele and Romagna Mia, however the achievement which Gabriele and the Romagna Mia family are most proud of is giving Toronto its only truly traditional northern Italian dining experience. Gabriele's vision was to share the tastes and flavours of his childhood. Traditional fresh pasta, homemade piadina and highest rated risotto immediately thrust Romagna Mia into Toronto's culinary spotlight.

Located in north central Italy, bordering on the Adriatic Sea in the east, this northern province is widely considered the gastronomic capital of Italy. The region is divided into eight provinces named for capitals. Bologna, Ferrera, Modena, Parma, Piacenza and Reggio nell'Emilia provinces are in Emilia. Forli and Ravenna are provinces in Romagna. From all of these areas, the gastronomic delights of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, Prosciutto di Parma and Balsamic Vinegar are designed using centuries old techniques and recipies.

Our logo, "La Sangiovesa" is really a mythical character from Romagna. A maternal goddess who offers wine as opposed to milk. She is names after the predominant burgandy or merlot wine grape grown in Romagna and Tuscany - "Sangiovese."
