Take off Adverts Not via Fb Virus on top of Timeline

Multiple Fb users are seeing ads while using Facebook Timeline which are displayed using a message saying, “ads not by Facebook”.

It seems of the fact that third party advertising campaign are displayed via a 3rd party extension installed on your Firefox, Safari or Google Chrome browser.

I haven't been able to find any information on the legitimacy these ads but one thing is of course – they may be intrusive and annoying!

The ads are generally in the shape of banner advertisements that show on Facebook Timeline profiles much like one with the image below

Facebook has released a help video on removing malware out of your Facebook Timeline profile however the video is very broad and will not address this specific problem.

Subject to which browser you’re using, follow the instructions below to remove the “ads not by Facebook” appearing on your Facebook Timeline profile.

To get rid of the non-Facebook advertisements you'll want to access your browser’s extensions and disable any of them that look fishy.

If you observe an extension that you simply didn’t install, disable it. If none of them look suspicious, you need to sill disable them one-by-one and check Facebook after disabling each to check if the advertisements are removed.

Allow me to share steps to access your extensions in each browser:

Disable Extensions in Google Chrome:

 Visit the “Window” menu then it extensions.
 Disable and take away any suspicious extensions. 

Disable Extensions in Mozilla Firefox:

 Visit the “Tools” menu then it “Add-ons“.
 Disable and take away any suspicious add-ons or extensions extensions. 

Disable Extensions in Apple Safari:

 Visit the “Safari” menu, “Preferences…” and then the “Extensions” tab.
 Disable and take away any fishy extensions extensions.
